4 tips for how to choose your Georgetown, TX Senior Photographer | Affinity Fotografie

The choice of your Georgetown, TX senior photographer can be a tough decision! I’ve put together my BEST 4 tips to help you make your decision!

#1 THE STYLE

The first thing you should look for when choosing your Georgetown, TX senior photographer is the photographer’s style! Do you like photos that are bright and colorful? What about photos that are dark and moody? How about the light and airy look?  These are all things to consider. You want to choose someone who’s style most closely matches your own. I personally love colorful photos that are true to life. Ask yourself if your photos are going to look dated several years from now if you choose a photographer that just follows the latest trends. There are a lot of trends that come and go. I prefer to produce timeless images that last a lifetime!

#2 THE EXPERIENCE

What kind of senior picture experience do you want to have?  Do you want unlimited outfit changes? How would you like to be photographed at multiple locations during your photoshoot? Do you want a photographer who is going to scout out the perfect location for your session? Would you like to meet your photographer before you even have your session? A photographer who cares enough to meet with you ahead of time can develop the perfect senior portrait experience tailored just for YOU! Do you want to showcase all of your special talents, abilities and hobbies at your senior session? At Affinity Fotografie we specialize in seniors and know exactly how to make each and every photo session unique. Our senior portrait experience is unrivaled!

#3 THE PRODUCTS

What products are you hoping to walk away with from your senior portrait experience? We know that digital files are must-have, but did you know you could have so much more? At Affinity Fotografie we know how much our seniors love their digital images! That’s why we include them in most of our collections. Our top two collections include ALL of your digital files PLUS a slideshow set to music! We also give you your own phone app with all of your digital photos with our top two collections! But, that’s not all we give you. We believe in quality printed works of art. Products that are heirloom quality and are built to withstand the test of time. We offer large metal prints, heirloom quality albums, wall canvases, and so much more! Most of our seniors and their parents tell us that they weren’t originally thinking about purchasing wall art or albums. This is usually because most photographers simply don’t offer these amazing products! However, once you see your beautiful images displayed on a magnificent large metal print you won’t be able to imagine not having it. After a senior has gone off to college, parents find themselves looking through their son or daughter’s heirloom album quite often! Holding quality printed products in our hands serves as comfort when we’re missing someone. Don’t worry, we offer a discount when you order a 2nd identical album, so both the senior and his/her patent/s can have an heirloom album!

#4 THE PRICE

This is our fourth and final tip. While price is important, it is not the most important factor. I never recommend choosing a photographer on price alone. Our non-refundable session fee is $250, due at time of booking. The session fee does not include any digital or printed products. This fee includes your pre-consultation where we discuss everything that makes you YOU! We’ll talk about your hobbies, sports, and any  extracurricular interests you have! The session fee includes your session time of three (3) hours with unlimited outfit changes. Your Premier View and Choose Session, to be held within one week of your senior portrait session, is also included with the session fee. At your Premier View and Choose Session you will select your Collection. Collections range in price starting at $695, but most  families spend around $1800. We offer monthly payment plans to help seniors and their families get ALL of the products they love without breaking the bank!

What to wear for your senior picture session | For the Guys | Austin Senior Photographer

These are my best tips and suggestions for the guys on what to wear for your senior portrait session. I totally want your session to be as painless as possible, so without further ado, here are my top tips for what to wear to your senior picture session with your Austin Senior Photographer:

#1  Bring a variety

Just like we tell the ladies, we want you to have a diverse selection of awesome images to see at your Premier View and Choose Session! Bringing a variety of clothing styles is highly recommended! You’ll have an unlimited number of clothing changes during your three (3) hour session, so go ahead and bring multiple choices. We start with our in-home studio portraits first. During the studio portion of your senior pictures we will focus on any sports you play. Bring any uniforms and equipment you use for your sport. If you play an instrument this is the time to bring it with you! If you have a suit and tie or JROTC uniform we’ll photograph that in-studio as well.

We suggest you bring a couple of casual outfits, one dressy outfit, and a few shirt choices. If you’ve already chosen a college to attend bring a t-shirt from that school along too! If you haven’t selected your college just yet, don’t worry! We can always do college t-shirt portraits later, during your Spring Cap and Gown session. If you’ve chosen a path other than college, such as the military, we will incorporate that into your session. Remember, everything we do at Affinity Fotografie is about YOU! It’s your day, your way!

#2  Make informed color and graphics choices

Your choice of color will play a big part in showing more variety in your images. Choose colors you like as well as colors that look nice on you! If you feel confident in your  clothing, you will look great! Solid colors work for close-up portraits, and we’ll definitely want to get a few of those! With solid colors, the focus will be on you rather than on your clothes. Try to avoid stripes as they don’t always translate well on camera. For t-shirts we usually suggest you limit them patterns, graphics, or branding. Those brands or graphics may not translate well when you look back on your photos in years to come, plus they can distract from the main subject- YOU!

#3  Choose clothing that you feel confident in

When selecting clothes always choose the ones that make you comfortable! If you feel less than confident in your clothing choices it will show in the final images, and comfort will definitely help with your confidence. The most important thing to remember when selecting what to wear to your senior pictures is that you should feel 100% confident in your choices!

#4  Be organized and neat

We recommend a fresh haircut, shave, and shower before your session! Clothing should be pressed and on hangers. the camera will see the wrinkles!  Glasses- if you wear glasses regularly we definitely want you to include them in some or all of your senior pictures. We do highly recommend that you remove the lenses from the frames before your session. This way we avoid the glare! If you can’t safely remove the lenses from your frames we suggest borrowing a pair of frames only from your eye doctor. Your eye doctor may loan them out as long as you return them promptly after your session. Check with your individual eye doctor’s office a few weeks in advance for their policy on loaner frames!

#5  Bring props!

Are you on the football team? Are you in the marching band? Do you play soccer, baseball, or any other sport? Bring props! Bring your musical instrument, your sporting gear, and anything else that pertains to your unique interests and hobbies! Do you live on a ranch? We can include that in your senior portraits!

As your Austin senior photographer these are my 5 best tips and suggestions for what to wear for your senior portrait session. We know the task of outfit coordination can be daunting, right?!  We totally want you to rock your senior session with wearing the right outfits, so without further ado, here are our top tips for what to wear for your senior picture session:

#1 Bring a Variety

We want you to have a diverse selection of awesome images to see at your Premier View and Choose Session! Bringing a variety of clothing styles is highly recommended! You’ll have an unlimited number of outfit changes during your three (3) hour session, so go ahead and bring multiple outfits!

We start with our in-home studio portraits first. During the studio portion of your senior pictures we will focus on any sports you play. Bring any uniforms and gear you use for your sport. If you play an instrument this is the time to bring it with you! If you have a formal gown or prom dress we’ll photograph that in-studio as well. We suggest you bring a couple of casual outfits, two or three dressy outfits, and at least one trendy outfit. Since we’re in Texas I personally love to see some western flare at sessions from time to time, so bring those cowgirl boots if that’s you!

#2 Make Awesome Color and Pattern Choices

Your choice of color will play a big part in showing more variety in your images. Choose colors you love as well as colors that look great on you! In my time as an Austin senior photographer I have come to realize that if you feel confident in your outfits, you will look amazing! Solid colors work great for close -up portraits, and we’ll definitely want to get a few of those! With solid colors, the focus will be on you rather than on your outfit. Select colors that enhance your skin tone and bring out your eyes! Try to avoid stripes as they don’t always translate well on camera. For patterns we usually suggest you limit them to accessories. For example you may want to include a beautiful patterned scarf into your session.

#3 Choose Clothing in which YOU Feel Confident

When selecting outfits always choose the ones that make you comfortable and feel confident! Again, if you feel confident in your outfits, you will look amazing! If you feel less than confident in your outfit choices it will show in the final images. The most important thing to remember when selecting what to wear to your senior pictures is that you should feel 100% confident in your outfit choices! If you can see through your clothing be sure to bring the appropriate underclothing to wear beneath it.

#4 Be Organized

Clothing should be pressed and on hangers. The camera will see the wrinkles! Pre-select which accessories and undergarments (don’t forget the appropriate undergarments) you would like to wear with each outfit. Place accessories in Ziplock bags and attach the bags to the hangars with their respective outfits. This will make the changing process quicker and leave more time for photos.

Glasses- If you wear glasses regularly we definitely want you to include them in some of your senior pictures.

#5 Bring Props

Are you a cheerleader? Are you in the marching band? Do you play soccer, softball, or any other sport? Bring props! Bring your pom-poms, your musical instrument, your sporting gear, and anything else that pertains to your unique interests and hobbies! Do you live on a ranch and love horses? We will include them in your senior portraits, because props can really bring the photoshoot together!
